Glossary of blocked and restricted casino traffic terms
Updated 14 October 2026. General information, not legal advice.
This glossary explains the terms used when casinos deal with visitors they can't accept because of licensing, location or payments.
GEO-restricted traffic
Visitors from countries where a casino holds no licence. They can reach the site but can't register or deposit.
Payment-restricted traffic
Visitors who can't deposit with what a casino offers, for example because a processor declines their country, card type or currency, or because the casino doesn't support their local payment method.
Geo-blocking
Using a visitor's location to stop them reaching a site or a product. Regulators sometimes require it. It prevents access, but it doesn't earn anything.
Licensed market
A country where a regulator licenses online casino operators, and where an operator needs that country's licence to take its players. See the market guides.
Channelisation
The share of a market's gambling that goes through licensed operators rather than unlicensed ones. Some regulators, such as Sweden's Spelinspektionen, publish reports on it.
Self-exclusion
A tool that lets a player bar themselves from gambling, for a set period or until further notice. Several markets run a national register, for example Spelpaus in Sweden, ROFUS in Denmark and Cruks in the Netherlands.
KYC (know your customer)
The identity and age checks an operator carries out before a player can deposit or withdraw.
CPA (cost per acquisition)
A fixed fee paid for each player sent to a casino. What counts as a player, such as a registration or a first deposit, is set in each agreement. Adboundary pays partners a fixed fee (CPA) for each player they send.
FTD (first-time deposit)
A player's first deposit at a casino. It is a common trigger for acquisition fees, though agreements differ.
Partner
A casino on the Adboundary network. A partner can send visitors it can't convert and receive visitors from other partners.
Licence verification
Adboundary's check of a partner casino's licence before it can receive traffic. See licensing and player protection.
iframe
A way to embed one web page inside another. Adboundary embeds on a partner's site with an iframe, so no code is needed.
